History

The current incarnation of the University of Waterloo cheerleading team began in September of 1987. It was started by Steve Morrison, then a student of Laurier University. Since then the squad has been co-ed (both male and female members), though at times the ratio was as lopsided as 5:1 in favour of the females.

The team cheers for Football, Mens Basketball and Womens Basketball. In 1999 they travelled to Halifax to cheer on the football team in the Atlantic Bowl.

The Footprint Award

Our team has made an effort to recognize the outstanding contributions to the program by individuals over the past few years.  The Footprint Award is recognition of all their contributions, and is meant as thanks for their dedication, which has surely influenced our program positively.
